After 3 or 4 years in a Scottish boarding school, my mother's parents finally returned home from India. here is my mother and her sisters (Mum is on left) wearing their new Indian skirts. It's about 1952 or 1953 here. I cannot imagine not seeing my mother for 4 years as a 6 year old, although back then it seemed fairly common.
