Journaling reads: "This Christmas Eve adventure begins with Eustace and Prunella Rumpole (two mice children) and their good country friends, the Barleys. Their fun is soon dampened when a stray snowball brings them face-to-face with the meanest, grumpiest rat in the whole world who has just moved into the basement of the Rumpole mansion. Little do they realize that behind the mean, grumpy face of Mr. Scratchly lives a sad and lonely rat in need of love and kindness. What Eustace discovers about Mr. Scratchly and how he decides to help him is a heartwarming tale of Christmas and the joy of giving to others. -- Sarah’s Kindergarten Christmas party - 1994" One of the dads was reading this storybook that we brought to the party to the kids. That's Sarah standing there listening with two little boys, though I know she'd heard it many times before...

The title letters for "Christmas" are Thickers (mixed) and the rest is hand-lettered with a Signo pen. The leaves were cut with an old Coluzzle template, the berries are punched. The leaves and zigzag border (punched) are inked with dark green and the berries and title topper are inked with white. Then I stitched with red DMC in the holes in the punched border.

On the side: I made Sarah's taffeta skirt and black velvet cummerbund. The pin at her neck was made from a button - a black velvet hat with gold trim.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
