Not a ancestor but the photo and letter were found in Capt. Foster's diary. The letter talks about burrying the dead in a common cemetery. I guess there was concern about burrying the dead of both the North and South in one cemetery. Gen. Sherman agrees that it is acceptable. The letter is a hand written copy I did when I was in gradeschool in the 60s, I scanned and resized so I could get it on one page.

How distinquished and good for him. There is a cemetery near me in Marietta GA that would not allow southern Union soldiers to be buried there. Silly Confederates. Since Most of my family was Union (even tho' they were from Alabama and Tenn) I don't appreciate that! LOL. Emphasis on the word MOST. It must have been interesting at Thanksgiving! It's so cool your ancestor kept this! So interesting.
