This card features my new stamp from Whimsy Stamps. Though she's sitting on a limb, my first impression is a rainbow. Even after I've painted the whole image, my minds still thinks rainbow. Not sure why???
I bet it's hard to tell that I love purple and lavender colors. Looking at my paper stock, blue just didn't seem right and pink seemed to be too little girly. Green seems too neutral, yello...w and orange too bright, and red was too adult, so purple it is.
As usual, this is another layout inspiration I found. I liked the two prints, with a very subtle use of the largest piece. It's more of a hint of a print than a presence. The top print is the show piece. The interior print is framed with a lace white edge punch. The vignette is wrapped with two edge punched strips. Each lacy punched edge is chalked. I tried purple and lavender chalk, but it just would not appear, so I went drastic and used a charcoal colored chalk. Much better. The two strips are topped with a satin lavender ribbon.
The center piece is a doily punch with the stamped image in the center. Look closely in the pic and you'll see the white circle piece is chalked in purple. It's subtle and more visible in real life than in the pic.
I hand painted the stamped image. I'm getting better at shading the face, hair and clothing with the water color. I also embellished the stamped image with two floral brads. I cut the legs off the brads and then glued in place. A purple floral brad for her hair, (it fit perfectly over the stamped flower that was already there), and a lavender flower brad toward the bottom of the stamped image.
I enhanced the card with my signature hand punched flowers, leaves, a scatting of purple gems and a wooden cut butterfly, which I lightly chalked in purple. The natural raw wood finish didn't fit the card.
Note pictured: The interior of the card sports a decorative strip towards the bottom, utilizing the prints, solids and ribbon and topped with another hand punched flower with gem. Stamp by: Wee Stamps
