I was inspired by the diagonal lines in the pic, so I used those when piecing my background. I also liked the textures and red/gray color combo of the inspiration, so I utilized those. The shiny red curb really caught my eye, so I used my red rick rack in a similar way. The red raincoat really framed the colorful dress, so I 'framed' my pic with a red mat. The umbrella inspired me to use the cloud pp instead of a grassy green pp I had originally imagined. The candy colors of the dress in the midst of the red/gray pic gave me the idea to use the colorful photo turns.
I really liked that dd's entire shadow was in the pic, so I made that the subject of the lo and I found a really cute poem about a shadow (I just added the 's' to the "he" in the poem to make it suit my girly lo). I wrote the poem on a piece of vellum.
For the June Sewing Challenge, I stitched the vellum to the page with white thread and stitched a border with black thread and a running type stitch.
Totally coincidental that I'm posting this lo on the 10th anniversary of the pic being taken. LOL
