The topic of the page has been in my mind for some time now. I was pondering if I should put "stormbird" or "fulmar" as the title. The first one is straight translation from Finnish and the second one is what the word means. I chose stormbird as it captures the mood of the poem better. What poem you ask? Stormbird/Fulmar is a poem by Kasimir Leino and it was also turned into a wonderful song by Oskar Merikanto. Ever since I heard the song in a theatre production I was involved, it has somehow stayed with me. When I was pregnant, this was a song I sung to both of our girls. The song is very meaningful and powerful to me.
The journaling is hidden at the back of the layout. The part shown in the chipboard frame are the words of the poem. I almost got the first verse to fit inside them. Below is a very free translation of the first verse as I didn't find a translation easily over the net.
"When the storm is roaring and the waves are singing and when they hit against the shore, when the trees are bending and the seafoam is splashing, then I enjoy myself and fly across the air with the greates joy singing about nature, the world and the strive of men."
