The image of the decorated bicycle card offered as an example isn't very clear and doesn't enlarge to full size as it should for a better look. So I can't really tell what the final image looks like. Nor are the instructions particularly clear either. Unfortunately, having been a member of the designer's card club for a few months, I am not surprised by this lack of clarity. Why does the card need multiple additional sentiments and two trimmings using both ribbon and twine? My preference is for design simplicity. And isn't this a demo of embossing rather than die cutting? Which is it, Ms. Ziegler? One thing I've noticed in her work is a difficulty is putting together colors that complement or coordinate with each other. This combination is another example.
I think I see orange, brown, and blue: all the colors of nature loved by cyclists.
Before looking at this "upcycled" [sic] version, I'd planned to use the embossed card as is with some color on the caption. My stepson is an avid cycler. The right color cardstock and ink will make this a sophisticated card--nothing like what is pictured here. I'm sure everyone purchasing this folder will have many better ideas for enhancing the images coming from their embossing machines!
appiness is just ahead! Sizzix dies put the finishing touches on any greeting and make it worthy of anticipation.
Other Supplies: Cardstock, Patterned Paper, Blending Tool, Button, Ink, Ribbon, Rub on Sentiments, Twine
Cut cardstock to size and fold in half to form a card base. Add ink to the Pursuit of Happiness embossing folder and emboss cardstock. Add additional colors of ink with a blending tool to highlight the raised design. Let dry. Mat on two complementary colors of cardstock and attach to card. Add rub on sentiments to the card front along with a threaded button to highlight the bicycle tire. Cut a slit in the seam of the card, feed ribbon through the hole and around card and tie in a bow. Embellish with twine.
