this is wonderful having this picture and I love what you did with it to scrap it. So authentic and really amazing when you think here we are on the internet and that was only one generation back!
Oh Carol...this is fabulous. I am glad you have a pic of your dad working. how cool is that? I have some too thankfully. I think most people do not have any.
Your papers were a great choice. love the journal strips, rub ons & the clock. great title too.
What a wonderful Heritage page about your Dad! So cool that you have a pic of him while he was working! Great background paper, fits your subject perfectly. Great job on this!! : )
First I just have to say that I love that you used - 30 - at the end of your journaling. You must be the daughter of a printer! I am in awe of this beautiful photo, what a treasure! You scrapped it so beautifully with the right pp and the right embellishments as well as the perfect title and journaling. Your best ever!
I just went and looked again at the lo you lifted. I like that one a lot but you brought it to whole 'nother level
You chose the PERFECT paper for this layout! The journaling really tells a great story, and the stamping is so flawless, I originally thought it was part of the paper.
Photo is of my dad (rear), taken during his apprenticeship, working with his instructor. Journaling reads: 1940 - Dad and his journeyman instructor making up the daily newspaper, setting type in chases. Each line of text was cast in hot lead on a Linotype and formed into rows in the chase by hand. If you look closely, you will see photos and advertising copy. They were engraved or cast in lead, mounted on wood, then inserted into the chase. When the chase was complete, it was mounted on the press for printing. ~30~
