This week I tried something I'd never done before. I painted the background paper for my layout. Now in all honesty, I'm generally a lazier scrapper than that. I don't like waiting for things to dry before I can work on them, so I tend to avoid some of the techniques that interrupt my work flow with periods of waiting. But this week I wanted to try something different with my roller doodles. I rolled them on my background paper with VersaMark watermark ink, then added clear embossing powder. Once the paper had cooled (I used watercolor paper for this project) I saturated it with water, then added a couple of color washes over the embossed areas. I should have practiced a bit more before to get a smoother wash, but I was happy with the overall results. I even survived waiting for my paper to dry!
