WOW - this is fantastic - love the colors, the textures, the bits and pieces, especially that lion (looks like the Anne Klein lion) - you are so very artistic - love it ~
Oh Caroline!! This is wonderful!!! I did like the first one, but I LOVE this version. The color are so right, and I can't believe how you got so many wonderful things in that small area. So many delightful things to look at. You are truly an artist my friend!!! BTW - Love that lion!!!
You did such an amazing job with this canvas!!!!! I absolutely love your creativity and I want you to know that I love it now, but loved it back then, too! Your talent is so wonderful!!!!
This is fabulous. You are being too hard on yourself, C. I loved it when you showed the first pictures and now I think it is awesome. I never would have thought to use all of those items in such a cool way. love love love this.
I love it! I made my first mixed media not too long ago and at first I didn't care for it so much. I sat in my house before I gave it as a gift and looked at it everytime I walked by and then grew to love it too. It was just out of my comfort range when I first made it and then realized it was just as much of art piece as the other pages and wreaths and other items I have made. I love the colors in the light put in a bright room and the lion and bits and pieces in the pop top and the corner with the pen tops and such feels like a sunburst. I think you did a fanastic job!

I went back & looked at the original & I have to say there is no comparison. There is so much more depth to this & the more neutral colors. Several people mentioned using softer colors & you listened! Before you "bin" this, which you aren't, you can send it to me. I would hang this on my wall in a New York second (however long that is?)!!
Oh for the love my sc....don't you dare "bin" this!! No sympathy here because this is way cool! I love what you did & oh my the layers you have put into this masterpiece! I love the hints of color, very subtle, but there. All you used...screws, clothespins, pieces of parts, & the lion head being the vocal point. I would love to know what lies b'neath & I agree with scraphouse....how did you create this? I know I am writing a book, but I am really in awe over this & how you transformed it into something totally different than before. To use one of your words you "SMASHED" it Caroline! WOOHOO!!!!!!:)
Very beautiful, it is like a sculpture, a relief . The close up where you were talking about layers, that really made me think of all the time it took to do this. Love the design, the variety and detail of the elements. The lion is very cool, and so is the title! This is so a fav, youre very artistic. I love the lizard! Please tell how you did this and what you used. I may try to do one, dunno if I have the patience. I wonder if gesso can be sprayed on?lol
I decided to rewrite this intro', still being honest but a bit more positive (was having a bad day when I wrote 1st, we all have them right? Lol) So, What Lies B'neath is THAT rainbow coloured canvas. Yep, the one I asked for help with (it's 3 entries back I think). I did try to take on board & apply your suggestions & am ever so grateful for them. As you can see, some worked out better than others? Certainly grungey & totally different from original. Essentially I gessod whole thing, applied only 2/3 colours which are mix of paints, made up sprays, gelatos, chalks - you name it, it's probably in here somewhere. Ended up with this. Not entirely happy but after stop/start, leaving for a few weeks, decided 'enough is enough' & time to move on....
I want to repeat my gratitude for all the help, advise & support. It was certainly an experience & a learning curve!! Lol... I still have so much to learn but after bring down on it, time to accept & try again (not immediately though, lol)...
Your opinions are always important to me... Take care till next we meet in cyber world.
