Love your touch of Spanish moss.. a Bayou to me sounds very dark, mystical and creepy. A swamp - somewhere you'd find Crocs or in your case Gators.

Love the detail in this LO. And the pictures are beautiful. Thanks for the terrain lesson. I didn't know the difference before reading your description either. Now if I ever head down south I can show how knowledgeable I am by knowing the difference. Lol.

hahaha... love your description! But in all honesty the description for the swamp could be used to describe Washington's rain forest too! Always wet & overgrown w/ shrubs and trees. Maybe the difference between a swamp & rain forest is the humidity! Still very fun LO & I'd be scratching my head too if I saw those signs wondering what the differences were. Another great LO & topic!

I would have not known either. Must be a swamp from the description! When I think of the remote swamps and bayous I think of all the snakes and alligators and critters. Also there is usually an old shack if you go in far enough - I know this because it is in every book that takes place in the swamps and bayous of Louisiana. A crazy person lives there. Or sometimes distant kin of Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau herself. Those kind of places really conjure up images! I guess I think of the bayous as being huge and meandering into areas that are really remote and completely away from civilization.

Love the Spanish moss embellishment! Here in north Louisiana, we have swamps, too, but our streams are more fast moving and usually called "creeks".
