This is just amazing, beautiful! I saw your comment to Vicki (CrimsonMama) and decided to check this page out. I did a page with paper weaving once - it turned out awful, the page is still in my scrap box. Maybe I'll try again after seeing this stunning LO.
LOL....I was confused as to why I had not left a comment on this one earlier or favorited it. Now I know why......It's a DIFFERENT LO!!!! Don't know which one I like the most. Artistically, it's a tie, but since this one has the "Deep in the Heart of Texas" banner and our state flag......THIS ONE IS THE WINNER IN MY BOOK! Big Hugs, Elizabeth!
Stunning work, Elizabeth! So many wonderful details to enjoy.....I think I need a nap simply from studying this LO.... I hope you took a nap when you got through with this!
Well....hug myself happy! This is amazing Elizabeth! I thought the first one was wonderful, but this one rocks too! I love the weave work (very creative). I love how you add all the little extra's that bring even more meaning to the lo! AWESOME my friend!:)
Elizabeth, you make such lovely pages, but this one touches the heart. You did an exceptional journaling of the photos. I loved reading all about it. Very nice embellishments, but the touch of the old button is special
Love how you brought all of the different elements together! I love gingham and of course the red, white and blue! In the 80's we had a Volkswagon Vanagon and I put brown gingham curtains in it (matching the paint), as we did a lot of camping. My boys still talk about those curtains! lol
So beautifully done, love all the elements you used to make this innovative and appealing page! The strips, metal, twine flower, and symbols of Texas , all work beautifully together. The jolees clock is beautiful. Love the bright colors contrasting with the neutral bg. The twine circle and bows are so cute!
Love how you explain everything and where it came from. To me this is what scrapbooking is about , when you put found objects in it, the button, cologne bottle top. And hey, a matching blue feather.
Elizabeth, this is fabulous down to the very last detail. I love the look of the weaving on only part of the page and am inspired by you to do it again. Those pics are priceless!
So beautiful Elizabeth! I love how they are wearing red & blue-- matching your color scheme so perfectly! This is darling & so unique! Like the weave! Think a few of us will try it! ; ) Beautifully layed out~~
OMG....this is so darling! Love the paper weaving, the photos, and all the cute embellishments! The Texas theme and the red, white, and blue colors are fabulous!
This is AMAZING, so well designed from the BG paper to all of the embellies. I love the paper weaving and twine flower and that you used a button that was your moms, I have buttons like that and they add the perfect personal touch.
This is awesome Elizabeth and ever so creative!! Love the whole Texas themed page. The great colors, the lattice work of course, the metal pieces, the hand made flower, the lasso look around one of the photos and all your wonderful embellies.
My niece in Texas asked me to make her two layouts using these pictures of her little boy and my brother. I had a lot of fun with this. I decided to use the lattice work technique, inspired by JoRosie, who gave me permission to "lift" from her layout "Incredibly Sweet Together" and she gave me the following link for a tutorial from Rae at Swirlydoos - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhM6aLB-hC0 - just copy and paste if you're interested. Anyway, thanks so much Joan! I ended up not covering the entire page with the lattice work as I was actually using the scraps left over from the first layout I did and didn't have enough to cover it all so I came up with the graduated lengths. I like the end result! Also, I had originally planned to put buttons at various points on the intersections of it when I got this wild notion at the last minute to do a Texas theme since that's where my brother and his family all live! I knew bluebonnets were the State flower and I printed a couple of images out that I got over the internet and fussy cut around them. Also the Mockingbird is the state bird and I did the same with that. Then I thought of the state flag but when I found what appeared to be a buckle with the Texas shape and the flag in it I liked that even better. The tune "Deep in the Heart of Texas" also came to mind so I printed that out using my Print Shop program. The button at the top of the little picture is from my mom's old button collection so that adds a little special touch. I made the little twine flower from a Tracey Sabella tutorial (thanks Tracey!). The little stars, "blessings" and scroll looking piece in the blue gingham I cut out on my Cricut a long time ago. Glad to finally put those to use on this layout! The piece in the middle of the blue gingham was actually the top of a Stetson cologne bottle my husband had and gave me. He cut it off the lid for me! The background paper of diamond plate is from Hot Off The Press in a Steampunk paper pack that I got at our local Bi-Mart. The key, lock, gears and compass are all from Hobby Lobby - The Paper Studio Spare Parts line. I just love those products and they are very reasonably priced. I believe the clock is Jolee's Boutique as well as the road sign. Thank you all for stopping by and for your continued support and encouragement. Your comments really make my day! Wishing you all a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and I give thanks to all of our Veterans who have given the ultimate sacrifice to serve our country and those that continue to serve.
