As Spring approaches I long for warmth and sunshine and what better way to add a bit of warmth and sunshine than but using yellow. It isn't always easy just using one colour on a layout but when looking through my stash I found I had so many papers and products to choose from. How I created the layout. 1. I took a sheet of white cardstock and trimmed 1/2inch off the bottom and one side. I misted a plastic bad with some Mr Huey's TAXI and added a bit of water and dabbed it over the white cardstock taking any excess off with kitchen roll. I used a lighter yellow (BUTTERCUP) as well. For an extra splash of colour I made some splatters using a paint brush that I dipped into the bottle of Mr Huey's TAXI. (More art techniques are explained in Wilna's Art Class [twopeasinabucket.com])2. I also wanted to incorporate texture onto the layout. I cut out a mask with my Silhouette cameo (download here: TRIANGLE BACKGROUND [dropbox.com]) and covered parts of it with a layer of gesso and left it to dry. 3. The last part consisted in creating the layers and the corner clusters. I used papers from the DEAR LIZZY LUCKY CHARM collection, AMY TANGERINE YES PLEASE / READY SET GO, gold polka dot vellum, washi tape, stamps (American Crafts MY GIRL) collection. The hearts were created using the negative of punched out hearts (two sizes) and stamps. I stamped over the heart shapes and to make the shape pop I drew a few pencil lines around them. 4. The final touches were to add elements that would guide the eye towards the photo. I chose to use some of the YES PLEASE rub ons. I am so pleased to see that rub-ons are making a come back and the Amy TAngerine ones are so fantastic. A few vellum arrows (I was inspired by Janna's video using arrows [twopeasinabucket.com]) and some stickers made the layout complete. I really enjoyed creating it and hope you feel inspired to use ONE COLOUR on one of your creations.
