I was a bit nervous starting this because I almost never use just white ink…almost every time I've tried, it hasn't been good so now, if I want white, I use versamark clear ink and white embossing powder but a challenge is a challenge and so I decided to give it another shot. I decided to work with the kraft card stock because it is a sort of mid, neutral tone…in the past using white ink on pastels, for me, has given so little contrast that it is barely noticeable and using it on dark colours has resulted in something that almost disappeared into the cardstock as if the white pigment was overpowered by the darker pigment. Anyway, I used a really large lacey heart stamp and stamped the red heart first then masked it and carefully stamped the white heart overlapping the red one. I made sure my stamp was very well inked before doing that and I was pretty happy with the results . For my second stamp I chose a butterfly and stamped it on patterned paper in the same colour tones as the card stock I planned to use for the card base. This looked fine when I stamped it but as it dried the white lines began to look pink. I'm not sure if it is sucking pigment out of the card stock which is then turning the ink pink, or if the white pigment is just not opaque enough and the red stock from underneath is showing through. It doesn't look bad but if I wanted it to be really white looking I wouldn't be satisfied. In any case, the butterfly stamping didn't have to be pure white so I continued and added some other colour highlights with metallic markers to give the butterfly a little shimmer. Then went back to the kraft colour to stamp a small heart and the word love and attach the heart to the butterfly with a ribbon and then both of them to the card. The edge is a double row of an EK Success edge punch, with tiny hearts.I think I may add a more detail sentiment into the upper right hand corner before I use this card, but I wasn't sure, at this point, who it will be used for so decided to keep my sentiment options open for now. ETA: I used Colorbox frost white ink for this project. it's the best white ink I've found so far but I'd still tend to go to the white embossing powder if I want to be sure of really white results.
