Our first attempt at making caramel apples. I wanted a few touches of hallowe'en but since we don't really celebrate hallowe'en here I didn't want to go overboard.Journalling reads: One of my favourite Hallowe'en treats as a child was candied apples so we decided to try to make some this year – except the caramel version. D as a big help with washing and stirring (until it got too hard to stir). We couldn't find popsicle sticks to in desperation we used plastic knives. The caramel was fantastic, but the apples… they were big and the knives couldn't take the weight once the caramel was applied, which slowed down the process, which made the caramel harder to apply. We were going to sprinkle nuts on them, but quickly changed our minds. Despite the problems, they were delish… as long as you like eating thickly covered caramel apples with a fork and a knife!
