Freedom
by Tjet
I know that you are probably wondering what a public telephone has to do with Freedom. I'll tell you why this phone made me think of Freedom. I was already thinking about freedom, it was the Fourth of July, 2014, after all.
My son and I had traveled to a favorite park, about 30 miles from our home to enjoy the day and play mini golf. In the main part of the park were these phones. I don't know about where you live, but around here it is rare to find a public phone booth.. I thought it was great. My son took a picture.
That phone booth made me think of the Constitution of the United States and my rights and freedoms. I took two pictures. It was perfect with the beautiful park setting and the American Flags.
I love the First Amendment Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Isn't that so cool! I can tell people about the love of Jesus.
Oh, nothing there about Seperation of Church and State. That came from a private letter from Jefferson. He said the government would stay out of the church's business, not that the church had to stay out of the government.
The Second Amendment is also wonderful. A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
I have the right to protect myself. Praise the LORD!
Today, we don't worry about the Third Amendment, but it was important to our founding fathers. No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.
The amendments continue protecting our freedoms. This is why a simple public phone booth reminds me of mine. Freedom of speech preceeded by Freedom of religion, followed by the right of the people to Keep and Bear arms, and on and on with more protections.
GOD bless America!
