My husband is a B-I-G Laird Hamilton fan. For those of you in the know, Laird is the man who practically invented big wave surfing- for those less in the know, he is Gabrielle Reece's husband and he's on the American Express commercials. :) I was listening to the radio while running errands one day, and I overheard the DJ announce that Laird was going to be signing copies of his new book at one of the bookstores in town that evening- I quickly called my husband and let him in on the news...at first he wasn't sure if he wanted to go, after a long day at work, taking the dog for a walk and sitting on the couch seemed like a more relaxing way to spend the night- but I talked him into it, knowing he wouldn't regret this chance to meet one of his surf idols. So, we hauled butt in the rain over to the store and got in line and waited. Finally, Laird signed a book for John and also one of his prized Laird Hamilton posters from back in the day. I got to shake his hand. It was so fun to see him in person, we're so glad we went. Laird Rules!
