The foils are applied like gold leaf, but easier as they have a thin plastic layer on top. When you press the foil to the glued surface and lift up, the glue pulls the metallic colour away from this clear layer. The pink piece behind the photo still has this layer attached, and made it a little difficult to heat treat. The arrow and frame are not heated.
