My dd went to a very small Catholic school for grades K-8, and every year, one of the 3 fundraisers was a black tie Gala with live and silent auctions, yada yada. Each class always had a project that they donated for the silent auction, usually a craft of some kind, but when Cassie was in 7th grade (a combined 6th-7th class of 13 children), she and her classmates donated their time instead. The high bidder could have the kids come do yard work or clean out their garage or whatever for a day. These are photos of my dd and some of the other girls from that day.

The journaling is printed on vellum and says: The Wojciks purchased the 6th-7th grade donation of service time in the silent auction at this year's Gala. They, in turn, donated it back to the school, so the kids spent a day in the summer doing whatever needed to be done around the building, from scrubbing baseboards to cleaning out the storage room to sprucing up the landscaping. They enjoyed a picnic lunch next to the playground on a break.

In the lower right, I wrote the Bible verse that was on the poster of the children that was used to represent their donation at the auction tables:
Let him labor, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Ephesians 4:28

This is my example for my August Four Categories Challenge - Category Two ~ Color: Berry. Players are to create a LO inspired by the deep purples and reds of summer berries: blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, huckleberries, strawberries, etc. The twist is to have at least 3 different textures on the page - I have felt, satin trim, glitter chipboard, rick rack, gems, buttons, metal, twine, etc.

This is for the August Music Challenge - Lyrics. I used a lyric from Jewel's song 'Hands' for my title: We are God's hands. The twist is negative space... I tried, but I just am not good at that. LOL

Also for a VLB challenge to do a summertime LO.

I used an August '14 PageMap. The felt butterfly was in a RAK from Krista (~{Puppet}~). Thank you! I got out the old edge scissors for the little purple rectangle, and I used my Martha Stewart corner rounder to make the scalloped strip. I stamped the date, Jun 09 2010. I also used a Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous clear stamp here for the first time, and the set is total cr@p. When I went to peel it off the acrylic block when I was finished, it ripped apart, just crumbled, so I tried to pull another stamp from the set out of the package, and it ripped as well. I will never buy another stamp from them, and I am extremely disappointed in Tim Holtz. That was an expensive set.
