Beautiful hair. Similar to mine, but yours looks a bit thicker. I have trouble with split ends too, and your length is about the longest I can manage. I get split ends too. Similar to Carolyn's method below, I sometimes twist it together and the pieces that pop out are split ends. I trim with scissors. I haven't done that in a long time, though because I have been getting fairly regular trims since I started coloring my hair (covering gray hair). So, I guess that means trimming works too!
I dont have short hair, but just thinking about it to my waist gives me a headache. I had an aunt who had very thick hair down to her waist and she was always CRABBY. Well, then she got her hair cut, pretty short and she was so happy and she then told everyone, she did not realize it, but she had a constant headache with the long hair. She had it that way for so long , she got used it it, but it made her, not so nice. Now she's just crazy. LOL
Lori is right. Trimming it is suppose to help with split ends. I will share what girls used to do to get rid of them when I was a teenager. Take a small strand of hair and twist it tightly. Then take a lit candle and run it where the hairs are sticking out of the strand. Supposedly that gets rid of split ends. Nope, I was never brave enough to try it. Brave enough or stupid enough, depending on how you think! :D
looks so nice and full! You have some amazing texture/body to it... speaking as one who has hair that is so poker straight, it barely curls with a curling iron...
The advice I've always heard when trying to grow your hair out is keep the ends trimmed! My DD uses a hair mask but she will put just a little tiny bit on her ends after her shower and just leave it on till next wash. I've done it too and probably should do it more often, I forget. My hair is super thin and the tiny bit I use does not weigh it down.
