Journaling reads: "Before leaving home, we had made plans to try Planet Hollywood for lunch – never been before, let’s give it a try. So we left the airport and started toward Las Vegas Blvd. One of the few things Sarah wanted in Las Vegas was a photo of the famous welcome sign. Well, we saw it when we were headed to the restaurant, but opted to go eat first. (We should have stopped there then.) So we headed on down the “strip” looking for the restaurant. (It shouldn’t be hard to spot – that big globe thing is out in front. Right? Yeah!) Traffic was moving at a snail’s pace. We finally spotted it and turned in where our handy-dandy GPS said to turn and we wound up on the drive in front of Caesar’s Palace. (Okay, so we didn’t read carefully enough when doing our research before leaving home – the restaurant is apparently inside Caesar’s Palace. Who knew???) As we looked around us, we realized the only way out of there was to keep driving or use valet parking. – (Now, remember, we are small town folk and even though we only live 45 minutes from Atlanta, we don’t go up there very often. But, Atlanta traffic at its worst can’t compare to the traffic in Vegas!) So to make a long story short, we wound up driving around “the block” for over an hour looking for a place to park. By then, we were all getting a bit ill and very hungry.
Knowing that we had a good three hour drive to our cabin, plus we wanted to stop and see Hoover Dam on the way, we finally agreed to forget Vegas and just grab something at a drive thru. This proved to be a challenge, too. As we passed the welcome sign on the way out of town, I asked Sarah again about stopping. But, we were still hungry and didn’t want to think about anything else. We’d get that picture on our way back home… Anyway, we continued along on the road out of town and things weren’t looking very hopeful. We finally spotted a Del Taco – hadn’t seen one of those in years (ours went out of business and I now know why… not a very good tradeoff for the meal we had planned to eat at Planet Hollywood.) But, hey, our bellies had ceased their grumbling and we were once again off on our wonderful vacation.

The buildings, clouds, and sun were made using an old pp called "the paintables". I colored them in with markers, cut them apart, backed them with black and then layered them back into position using pop dots for dimension. The "sidewalk" (too big now that I'm looking at it here LOL) was done with grey cs, pens and chalk. Then I added the photos, some tree stickers, and the title. Thanks for looking!
