The background is amazing. What a great way to use up some scraps. I hope you don't mind but I'm lifting the idea from you. Love how you highlights the photo with the doily and circle. TFS!
I can see how you said it came together on its own....it is a perfect representation of how you feel about the picture/that time. Everything makes sense. I love this.
This is one of those pages that sort of took on a life of its own. I was playing with building a patchwork background and started thinking about when I was small. It was the 1940's, a decade of war and renewal. It wasn't pretty at all. The background began to remind me of ration tickets, etc., so I added the stenciled flowers to soften it. The doily and photo followed naturally, and the other embellies just finished it off. To me, it represents the ambivalence of the period, with destruction and hopeful spirit combining.
It will be entered in the Use Your Scraps challenge, Project 52 2015 (3/52) and Compliment Corner.
