LOL! I have never seen a street sign banning swear words. Love the neutral color scheme with the pops of color. The buttons along the bottom look terrific too.
Love your story about Virginia Beach...my husband and I were there in Nov. I showed him the sign and he said, "What the #*** does that mean?" Lucky we didn't get arrested. LOL Thanks for a great lift on my layout!
The pic is of my husband in VA Beach, standing next to a no swearing sign..which means that he had to be careful of his word choices. LOL
I loved the b/w/gray color scheme of the inspiration lo, so I decided to keep that idea and only use color to mat the pic and for the "colorful" part of the title..however, I ended up adding the colorful square "snaps", because the page seemed a little unbalanced with the 2 spots of color. I stamped onto the snaps to tone them down a little and decided to use the Kevin Fowler song - "Pound Sign (#?*!)" on them. http://www.cmt.com/videos/kevin-fowler/571340/pound-sign.jhtml
I started the lo with the gray cs and stamped around the edges to give a little bit of a distressed look to it. I went through my scraps and found a variety of b/w/gray pps to use on the lo. The crossword puzzle pp was from a fresh sheet of pp, but I thought since it was about words, that it would be a fun touch for the lo. The button-y pp I decided to use for the bottom strip, as the original lo had some round embellies on that strip....and because the "button your lip" phrase came to mind when I saw it. LOL I decided to add a title within the circle on my lo, but when I did it looked a little "off", so I added the round alphas and the little tag to the edge of the circle.
Because I cut my diamond pp mat a little weird and the black diamonds looked different on each side of the pic, I added some screw and washer stickers to the one side to take away from the uneven look. I added brads and twine to the washer stickers.
This is, also, for the JANUARY STICKER CHALLENGE. I used alphas from 5 different sets of alpha stickers and I used the screw and washer stickers.
