Wait - you say you wanted to keep the layout "simple?" - yet you hand cut out the hearts, hand stitched AND created shaker boxes??!!!! OH MY - you ROCKED it!! Great page, AWESOME photo, and I agree with a previous post - you need to add the first paragraph above somewhere on the page ( front or back) as journaling.
what a face - WHAT A FACE!!! You were absolutely right to use that paper with little embellies and little background patterns to focus entirely on her!! gorgeous, simply gorgeous~
I love the cutout hearts, especially since you did them by hand. Beautiful job! The shaker boxes are a cute, unexpected touch, and I like the stitched edging. Nicely done.
I love the shaker boxes and the stitching around the cutouts. Great photo. I really hope you included the first paragraph somewhere on the page or at least on the back. It says so much!
oh I like the placement - kind of echoes what you are saying about dd - not exactly what everyone expects her to be - just leaning a little her own way - the photo placement works like that And I absolutely love your shaker boxes!
I couldn't think of a word to describe this photo. It was taken last Feb (2014) while DD was at the park with MIL and SIL. At the time she was about one and a half years old and going through a major "serious expression" phase. Actually she has always been kind of a serious kid, but some of the looks she would give you could send shivers up your spine. (Well not mine, of course, but I do think there was a time when our family couldn't read her.) A year later and she is starting to get more silly and child like. She still doesn't perform on command (I like that) and has strong oppinions on what she likes and doesn't like (I like that too). She is my girl and there is no word to describe her.
I wanted to keep this LO simple and use it for this month's color challenge of purple nd green. I love this paper and had wanted to try this technique of cutting the paper and putting paper behind it. I don't have a cameo, so I did it by hand with a craft knife. I don't really like how the placement ended up, but it will have to do. The exciting part was making the shaker boxes. I know its actually an old technique, but I had never tried it before. I think they really add a little fun to the page.
