Oh W-O-W! This one really caught my eye! I love how you turned those leaves die cuts into memorable underseas!!! And the whole design is so great! Totally a fave!
WOW! This layout turned out GREAT! Love how the doily finishes off your clamshell, the seed beads reminder me of sea glass and the leaf die cuts/punches totally look like coral/seaweed!
So, I completely understand your frustration with your hubby and the photo. Happens to us ALL.THE.TIME when we ask friends or strangers to take our photo after we've taken a really nice shot for them. But honestly, this is beautiful. And I don't think we would have noticed that Ariel's tail was missing or the top of her head wasn't in the photo. You have this photo to remember the moment. It's perfect in so many ways.
Very cute layout. Love the vines and awesome job with the doily extending the photo. The seed beads and clear rocks are a great addition and you did just great with that.
Wow, that seaweed is gorgeous. Spectacular job with the die cutting, it's really beautiful. Love the waves and sea creatures, also. You really created an underwater wonderland. Beautifully done.
love all the techniques. you have created a wonderful scene/setting to showcase that sweet/priceless photo of our DD and Ariel. (at least you DH didn't cut your DD's head off -lol)
Oh MY this is STUNNING!!! Absolutely stunning!!!! Love the porthole look to the foreground and LOVE that seed pearl (though I'm sure it'd would give me fits) bottom and the whole scene is fabulous! What a fairytale page and so perfect for an Ariel photo. LOVE that you're experiencing that common ground with your DD! Fave for sure - gonna try this with my Nemo submarine photos! :)
I feel your pain - my dd's father has screwed up every photo and video he's ever taken. My bad for NEVER learning to not trust him to do it. Grr. Anyway, the LO is really great - the coral and creatures hiding in it look amazing!
How special - looks like you are right there with them in the sea. Great page. and you're right - the look on her face is all you need for a great photo.
My now 25 year old dd is still a big Little Mermaid fan. Her big thrill is when she is in Disneyland (at least twice a year) she gets asked by little girls if she is Ariel..this is when she has her red hair. Anyway your layout is adorable and so creative...Love the ocean and the seaweed and all the sparkle at the bottom.
Love your seaweed! Story is too funny but sounds so true!! What can you do but love them..... then take all photos yourself. Such a wonderful layout with sweet memories every time you look at it!
Fabulous! So cool! Very innovative design! Especially the waves you made; the sequins used as bubbles; and the way you laid out the seed beads! Your daughter is going to have a wonderful memory book!
This is an amazing LO! The sequins make perfect "bubbles," and I LOVE the coral!! And in addition to all the new techniques you learned, you also learned...don't give daddy the camera! ;P
DD was totally Star-fish Struck when she met Ariel. Ariel had become one of her most Favorite princesses a few months ago. Ever since she saw the movie, she magically becomes a mermaid everytime she takes a bath. Doesn't it melt you heart? Especially any of you mommies who grew up with Disney's Little Mermaid and secret wishes to be one. She and I are now starting to have things in common (from when I was a child) and its a whole new kind of love.
Sorry this picture is terrible. All day long at Disney I tried to take multiple pictures from mutiple angles, for optimum scrapbooking. And so for DD's favorite princess, I made the mistake of asking my hubby to take the picture(s)...assuming he would take more than one. Nope we waited in line 45 minutes for Daddy to get ONE picture....with no mermaid tail and the top of her head chopped off! Urg. I guess it doesn't really matter. Look at that smile...she's a happy girl. But Sheesh Daddy!
I tried a whole bunch of new techniques on this one. I recently saw the idea to make coral out of leaf die cuts. So I had to try it. Also, I had never used seed beads on a LO before, but I saw I recently so I tried that too. They are not very easy to work with and I am noture sure if the effect looks as good as I hoped. Finally, the doily is a technique I picked up from the scrapbook expo. I had no idea that glitter would adhere to an embossed object before it dries. And since the top of the picture was chopped off, I thought I could use that technique to replace the top of the clam shell. I was shocked how well the colors matched up considering I just used what I had at the house. This was an adventurous and fun LO.
