Oh my gosh!! I am soooo sorry! I am not entirely sure how I missed this entry last month! I was commenting on your latest dance page and noticed this one in the block of gallery images to the right. I started investigating and I am so sad for you that I missed this. Please forgive me!! It was definitely NOT intentional!
With that being said, I always love a good baseball page so, this one is no exception. Love the pics of your team inspired nails!!!
Love how clean and crisp this design is, and your journaling is great. I think my earliest memory of my grandfather was his watching the Cubs on tv, and my grandmother commenting that she couldn't stand listening to Joe Garagiola.
If you want to talk about total baseball apathy, move to a mid-sized city in the South. No one cares. :) This is very cool -- I learned a lot from your journaling!
Cool layout, love the banner! I'm a Cubs fan but I inherited it from my grandpa and will continue supporting them in honor of him and his love of baseball!
Your mani-pedi is perfect for the game! Great journaling. I never liked baseball until my DD played soft ball and although different I could understand and respect the game. Having your journaling on velum is a great idea to show off the bg paper!
This is a LO I wanted to do for my album to explain the change in my attitude toward baseball. I went from total apathy to big fan in a couple of months. This will go in May of my 2012 album, so, before the other Cubs LO I did this month that was from my first game at Wrigley in 18 years in July 2012. The photos are of the cover of the May 2012 issue of the Cubs' Vine Line Magazine. I just happened to see it at the drug store when I was printing photos one day, so I bought it because Jeff Samardzija was on the cover. The others are of my 'Cubs' mani/pedi that month. LOL
Journaling says: May 17, 2012 I grew up a "Cubs fan." Meaning, you identified with either the Cubs or the Sox, whether you cared about baseball or not. I remember Grandpa Tidwell having the games on when I was little, and my dad attended the Cubs Caravan sometimes, but that was about it. Of course, I also had a close friend in elementary school who was an OBNOXIOUS Sox fan, so maybe there was some element of defiance in my choice, too. I've been to a total of 3 games in my life, all between '91 and '94, but not because I really cared - it was just something to do in the city. I never watched games on TV or even followed how they were doing, except for the '03 playoffs. In fact, I was the one who would argue that baseball was boring and dumb. I used to have heated debates with my friend Kevin, who is beyond an avid baseball fan - he lives baseball. His father worked for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization when he was a child and was an Associate Director of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown when he was in high school. Kevin's first job out of ND was with the Astros. I used to drive him crazy! I vaguely knew Jeff Samardzija had been drafted by the Cubs after Notre Dame in 2006 because it was a big story when he withdrew from the NFL draft, but it wasn't until it was announced that he would be moved into the starting pitching rotation for 2012 that I started to pay attention. It really started with a throwaway comment I made about that to Steve, who is a big Cubs fan. He went on a rampage against Jeff, and that was all I needed to take a stand supporting him - after all we are both from Merrillville and both graduated from ND. There's that element of defiance again. In his first outing of the season, Jeff pitched 8.2 innings with 8 strike outs, 0 walks, and a 1.04 ERA for the game - a win over the Nationals. To this point in May, he is 4-1 with 2 no decisions - both of which the Cubs ultimately won. I've watched nearly every game so far this season on TV, and I even listen on the radio if I have to be in the car during a game. I know all the players and am beginning to understand and appreciate the nuances and appeal of the game. I finally get it!
This is for the May Sports Challenge - no twist.
