I began an interest in the Romani people when I did a Bohemian swap here not long ago. The word Gypsy is offensive to these people as the "N" word is to African Americans. They have been persecuted for centuries and have been nomadic out of necessity, not choice. Hitler tried to wipe out the Romani people as he tried to do with the Jews. But they prevailed. These fascinating people are generally not well educated because they are not able to stay in school for very long. Music is their gift; the smallest of the Romani children pick up instruments and become proficient at an early age. Thank you for looking, reading and for your lovely comments.
