I have a pretty formulaic procedure for how I document my dd's dance activities. The dance year goes from September to June, so I like to do a LO for the fall of each year that talks about what classes she is taking for the year. Then, the fall CNADM dance workshop has its own LO. Recital, along with details of any changes over the year in her classes, goes in June, and summer dance has its own pages. I usually have photos from a fall parents' day, but for whatever reason, for 2011, I don't. So, I combined the journaling for the new '11-'12 dance year with the journaling and photos from 2011 Fall CNADM. Photos here are of my dd and her friend on a break during the workshop. At the bottom are headshots and short bios of the instructors they had along with a reduced copy of the weekend schedule. Tucked in at the top is my Observer badge. DD was 14 yrs old here - a freshman in hs.

Journaling says: Cassie is taking six classes this dance year. She has Intermediate/Advanced Tap on Mondays with Jessica; Beginning Pointe, Intermediate/Advanced Ballet, and Intermediate/Advanced Modern on Tuesdays with Kelli; and Advanced/Intermediate Ballet with Jessica and Intermediate/Advanced Jazz with Marne on Thursdays. She is the assistant teacher for Marne's Accelerated Ballet 2 class on Thursdays as well. She started the year also assisting Lisa's Accelerated Tap 2 class on Mondays, but in November, Jessica added 45 minutes to the beginning of Cassie's tap class for just the advanced girls, which conflicted.
Cassie and Kennedy were the only two from their group who went to Fall CNADM. Riley went alone from the older girls' group, and the three of them were all in Yellow (ages 14-21) together. Nick worked on barre, center, and combinations with them. Robert taught them an amazing modern dance to a song with African rhythms, and Jay did combinations with them using Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO, both of which the girls loved. Beth's lyrical dance was to Colorblind by the Counting Crows, and it was my favorite – really gorgeous. Stephanie taught them a hip hop dance to Beyonce's Run the World. CNADM has a video clip of it up on their Facebook page, in which Cassie can be seen pretty well.

This is for a VLB Challenge to use a computer for something on a LO. I did the teacher bios and journaling in Word, and printed the bios on white cs and the journaling on vellum.

Also for the June Music Challenge - Artist. I mention three artists, LMFAO, Beyoncé, and the Counting Crows, in the journaling. The twist is doodling. This is where I messed this LO up. LOL I did some doodling under the title and hated it, so I covered it up with white paint pen and hated that too. So then, I stuck the butterflies on it to break it up and make it look like butterfly trails, but that didn't really work either. SO, I'm calling it done, and I'm annoyed because I liked it much better before I messed with it. Sigh.

This is my example for my June Four Categories Challenge - Category Three ~ Technique: Title Work. I used 3 different fonts for the title, and I arranged the letters in a wavy pattern that was supposed to give a bouncy, dancy feel - before I messed it up (see above). I matted my main photo for the twist.

The journaling is printed landscape with the minimum margin on a regular 8 1/2x11 piece of vellum. I arranged my document in 3 columns and spaced them so they would fall diagonally. I tore the pp behind the vellum at the same angle as the torn vellum edges and used photo anchors to cover the adhesive that I used to attach the vellum. I edged the photos with black Sharpie.
