Wow it can a be real challenge to get this many photos on a page but this is well grouped. Beautiful work. always at how much work goes into making something look effortless.
I always love to see your dance layouts and this one is especially pretty! You work a lot of photos in but the design is so nice it works beautifully! I really enjoy these layouts!
I love that you fit so many photos on this 2 pager! It really captures the rehearsal and I love the pic with the instructor. Love that you made a flower from bits of the costume!
In 2012, my dd was in 8 dances in her studio's recital. These are the formal group portrait and the dress rehearsal photos for Beginning Pointe. She's 15 here. The girls danced to Palladio performed by the electric string quartet, Escala.
I always do a single page LO for each of her individual portraits that I try to match to the costume and song and a coordinating 2 page LO for the group portrait and action shots from the dress rehearsals. (I'm part of the stage crew for the shows, so I can only get photos at rehearsal - hence the casual state of the girls' hair and makeup, occasional lack of full costume and smiles, and sometimes, poor lighting. These aren't performance photos.) I decided back when she first started having multiple dances in the shows not to try and reinvent the wheel each time, so they all have this format - group shot on the left and action shots arranged across the rest of the 2 pages with pp and embellies that match the single portrait LO. When I have them, I like to include photos of the girls interacting with their instructor and each other during the rehearsal along with photos of the actual dance. There are 19 photos on this LO. You can see the single portrait LO for this dance as well as my other completed dance LO's in my Dance LO Album in my Gallery. The group portrait was taken by Cass Photography.
The design of the left page is based on an old Swirlydoos sketch. This costume has very long pieces of tulle that wrap around the torso and tie at the back of the waist, and there was enough for me to cut off a small piece of each color, teal and black, which I used to make the tulle flower. Underneath the title I wrote the class level, day & time of the class, the names of the girls in the dance, and the instructor's name.
