I think I need to make one of those...today! And yes, I'm serious!!! I've been trying to figure out how to keep track of the up coming school year and appointments with DS1 in college and DS2 in HS and college classes...I think this will solve my dilemma!
That calendar is awesome! I finally put a dry erase one in my kitchen (where everyone will see it!) but mind isn't as cool looking. I do try to put inspirational quotes on it every month, ones that make you go, hmmmmmm! Thanks for sharing!
This is my planner/calendar. Its 3 feet by 4 feet tall and mounted to the wall. It actually looks really cool in the room and I love that I can see it from almost anywhere in the main space. I take a picture of it (almost) every month. I thought I would use all the pictures to make kind of "a year in review" LO, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. We just keep getting busier and busier.
I made it by painting a piece of scrap metal with the black chalkboard paint because I wanted it to be magnetic too. Then I used thin little metal straps to attach it the simple frame I made out of 1x4's. I used a large ruler and a metallic sharpie to make the grid lines and add the days of the week. I had to rotate between lots of metallic markers because of the sheer size of the project and eventually broke don and used my fancy American crafts markers. Side note: I put the Saturday & Sunday together so I could see all the plans in one weekend easily. All my friends pick on me that it doesn't look like a standard calendar, but it just so much easier for planning. Also, make sure you buy the ERASABLE markers...not the bistro's (they don't wipe off!). I finished the whole thing off by mounting an IKEA light to it. It has become an awesome little decorative piece in the house, plus it keeps my family prepared for whats ahead.
