That is one ugly bug!! Gross! Amazing that they turn into beautiful swallowtails.

Here's what I found out... Papilio glaucus glaucus 5th instar caterpillar As is true with other glaucus group swallowtails, eastern tiger swallowtail caterpillars turn dark brown just before purging and seeking a place to form a chrysalis.

Nightmare bug

I am seriously going to have nightmares after finding this freaky bug crawling on my foot. It as freaky eyes. It moves very quickly, but still with the inching movements of a slug. And when it moves around it sticks a pink tongue like thing out in front to feel it's way along. Shudder.
