Sorry for your loss. You've done a wonderful job honoring him here I think. I really like that you included significant items that mean something to you on the piece. Like too that you've included the extra photos as well in the transparent pocket.
Jessie - I am so sorry for your loss. I admire your ability to honor your friend in this way. I have someone that I lost in 2012 that I haven't been able to do this for yet. This is a beautiful and meaningful LO. I'm sure he would love it. {hugs}
Amazing and so loving. The care and thought you put into each element to be a reflection of your friend is beautiful. And the lo is creative and cool too.
such a fantastic tribute page. I love that it is so true to who he was as you explained. I am so sorry for your loss. This looks amazing so you did him proud! ((HUGS))
Wonderful, upbeat tribute page, much like the life he lived, I think. Stunning pieced background and multi media work. Love your title work and somber flowers.
A wonderful, masculine design, and I like the idea of the hidden picks behind the photo, secured inside the pocket. A beautiful tribute to your friend.
I love this. I think every word that you wrote about the page needs to be incorporated into the page or on the back. What a sad event, but a wonderful friend. The layout is beautiful.
Love love love this layout. The layering, the use of embellishments, and textures that are all representative of your dear friend. I hope you copied your discussion above to put into the pocket with the layout. A loving tribute.
Oh my gosh...I am so sorry about your loss of your friend. He sounded like a an amazing person. The LO you made to honor him is equally as amazing. The layering is incredible. Nice use of the newspaper paper. TFS!
This layout is so rich in details and love! I'm sure you are right, he would high five you for this. So sorry for your loss, its so hard to make sense of it when we lose someone suddenly. Such a beautiful tribute.
Josh sounds like a wonderful person! I love how everything you incorporated in your lo was reminiscent of something he had a hand in. What a lucky person you are to have had such a light in your life. Your lo is a beautiful tribute to your friendship.
Such an amazing LO, and I loved that you showed his personality in the LO and not just a photo. He was an amazing man and from the sounds of it, he touched many people's hearts, and I too think that this was a little bit of therapy for you!!!
(((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))) This is a beautiful page and a great tribute page. Suicide is often a very difficult thing for someone to understand and I'm truly sorry for your loss.
Awesome tribute page to your dear friend. Such a sad story. So sorry. He sounds like he would have been not only a dear friend, but a fun one too. Great job on this page!
I'm so sorry to read about your loss; Josh sounds like such a wonderful guy.
Your tribute page is wonderful - the colors, the textures, the inking and gears all convey a sense of the man that your friend must have been.
I am not sure what to say. I like the layout. I have been in his shoes, for whatever the reasoning behind his actions, I understand how he could feel like that was the only way out. Depression is like quicksand, regardless of one's actions, one still tends to sink deeper into it. Sometimes you can get lucky, and find your way out. Though those sands have claimed many. My uncle had told me that death doesn't hurt for the dead, there is no grief for them. Pain, anger, and grief is left with us, those left living. We living suffer the dead, until we join them. I am sorry you loss such a good friend. I think you are brave for sharing it with us. The photo, at first glance was neat, but then once I read what you wrote...it became so much more. Great tribute.
Josh was the coolest guy. He was a dear friend of mine and last October he took his own life. I could say it came out of no where, but I think I would be lying to myself. Josh had done and seen lots of cool things. He was an emergency response firefighter, he owned his own businesses, he worked for some crazy people, he was the life of every party, but when you talked to him he made you feel like you were the only person in the room and you mattered. He and I would talk about anything and everything. He was so creative and was willing to try anything once...and honestly did. But the year leading up to his death I noticed something was off with him, even though we didn't get to see much of each other any more. My hubby and I had a kid and our lives were moving in different directions, but I did relish the few times I got to see him. I am not sure if Josh just felt like he had got everything he wanted to out of life or if he felt like he didn't want to live past the party. I suppose I'll never know, but a small part of me wants to believe I'll get to ask him about it someday. I am chuckling to myself, because if Josh was here he'd say over my shoulder that I was wrong and that there is nothing on the other side. Perhaps that's why he lived life to the fullest. He put more into 35 years of life than some people do in 60. I hasn't been a whole year yet and I still really miss him.
This is page is totally his style. He would have given me a high-five for sure. He was so supportive of everything anyone did....even if it wasn't his thing. The edges of the paper are made with carpentry materials and painted metallic because he was an awesome creator and welder. His Halloween costumes were the BEST! The news print paper is in reference to his thirst for knowledge...always reading articles or listening to interesting NPR stories. The gears are for his tinkering and the black gems are for his defined sense of style. He ALWAYS wore black long sleeve shirts under his shirts (even in the middle of scorching FL summers) with his spikey hair and black glasses with the wire he wrapped around the edges. All of that was a lot to take in...especially on his over 6 foot tall frame! But his big smile and generous nature shinned through. The flowers are for me...I didn't get to go to his funeral and I hate that. The picture is actually in a pocket I made out of transparency paper stitched together. It holds all the pictures of Josh I didn't already have in LO's. Again, I think he would have thought this was cool.... TFL.
