I didn't realize that this location was in question. Definitely would have to go to both as you decided to do. Like how you've quoted the Bible about the location. First sentence... I would just leave the first "and" out and replace it with a comma instead so that the sentence should flow just a tad better.
I know that there are different possibilities and that you went to both of them is meaningful for you. I like that you put the descriptions from the Bible here.
I learned so much from this LO. The research you did to explain was wonderful and it is so useful to the viewer. How amazing you saw all the important places there. I'm so envious.
We got back in our original taxi and left Bethlehem with our original driver and went back to Jerusalem to end our tour. When the driver asked where we wanted to be dropped off I told him I wanted to see the site of the cross and the tomb.
He told me there was a problem – two places claim to be the tomb where Jesus' body was placed when He was removed from the cross. Some people believe the real tomb is the Garden tomb and the cross was on Skull hill on the Mount of Calvary across the street. Others people believe the site is now inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher which contains a tomb which also claims to be that of Jesus.
Most people we asked say the tomb of Jesus could be either place – The Tomb Garden or the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, but they all seemed to believe it had to be one of the two places – they just weren't sure which one. We decided to visit both of these places – if would only be a 15 minute walk from the Garden Tomb to the church of the Holy Sepulcher.
What the Bible Says About the Location of the Cross
Jesus was crucified at the place call Golgotha (Matt 27:33; Mark 15:22; John 19:17), which in Aramaic means "Skull."
The gospels record the location of Golgotha as being outside the walls of Jerusalem (John 19:20) and near a well-traveled road (Matt 27:39; Mark 15:29); but, the gospel accounts are silent as to whether Golgotha was a hill.
What the Bible Says About the Location of the Tomb
The tomb was in a garden near the place of crucifixion (John 19:41).
The tomb was cut out the rock (Matt 27:60).
The tomb was a new tomb originally created for Joseph of Arimathea (Matt 27:60).
The tomb had a large rolling stone that could cover the entrance (Matt 27:60; Mark 15:46; 16:4).
The tomb was large enough for someone to sit down inside (Mark 16:5; John 20:12).
The tomb required one to stoop down to look inside and enter (John 20:5-6, 11; Luke 24:12).
