Wonderful page. I wasn't familiar with the tradition, so thank you for giving us a look. You know, I bought that Chalk Studio paper and have never figured out how to use it. You've given me some interesting ideas. Nicely done.
Each Jan. 1st we receive our "First Foot". This is the tradition origin: "Quaaltagh The Isle of Man name for the 1st Foot, or the 1st person to enter a house on New Year's Day. The 1st Foot is very important because he influences the fortune of the home for the coming year. If he's an unlucky or ill-favoured person the family will suffer the consequences for the next 12 months. It is wise, therefore, to arrange for the 1st Foot to be a respectable person. He should bring, as gifts, a coin, a slice of bread, a lump of coal, and a dram of spirits. This will ensure prosperity, food, warmth, and good cheer during the New Year."
