Tuesday, January 28th, 2014 – Today we were back in beautiful Moorea, French Polynesia and we wanted to do something a little different this time. Swimming with the stingrays and sharks definitely qualified as different!

I thought I would be frightened but I wasn't. I slid right off the boat into the water out near one of the reefs and couldn't wait to pet and feed the rays! After a while Bill went back on the ship to take some pictures of me in the water with the rays when he said, “Smile, and stand still for about a minute.” I asked him why I needed to stand still for a minute and he replied, “There are about 20 sharks that are going to swim around you and I want them to be in the picture!” I looked behind and sure enough, I was surrounded by sharks.

Apparently the sharks had been there all along but I never noticed, I was too taken by the hundreds of stingrays! The sharks were 4' – 5' long and once I realized they were all around I could see the dorsal fins above the water swimming all around us!

I can't believe I would ever be in the ocean with sharks all around and not be afraid but I was fine.

The stingrays were very docile and they felt like velvet!

What an awesome experience! Another perfect day!
