I hesitated to post this one because I was afraid it might offend someone. If it does, it was not meant to. I was amazed that he remembered so much of the Latin he learned and I loved hearing him sing the songs in Latin - I had never heard him do that before.
If this hurts anyone's feeling or offends anyone, please pm me and I will take it down immediately!
Here is the journaling:
From there we went to St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Bill was really bad. In the church one of the women in our group sat down in the confessional. Bill said, “I'm not a priest but I can listen to your confession” and he sat where the priest sits in the confessional.
She told him, “I've been very bad Father. Very, very bad” so Bill told her to say lots of Hail Mary's.
Then another woman on our tour sat in the confessional and thought she would confuse Bill and started “confessing” to him in Latin. Bill went to Catholic school for 11 years so he answered her in broken Latin and they had fun teasing each other. Then she started singing a song from Catholic school in Latin and Bill started singing it too. Everyone was giggling at the two of them sitting in the confessional singing a song in Latin together.
I need to emphasize, at no point did Bill try to pass himself off as a real priest, nor did anyone think his was. They were just being silly.
