Monday, March 24th, 2014 – La Possession, Reunion today – an island which is a possession of France. It was very neat and clean with nice roads and a very pretty beach that spreads in each direction for miles.

Our ship's shuttle took us to the center of town which was a block from the beaches. The ride was a bit long – 40 minutes but once there it was a cute touristy town. Only problem was that none of the shops were to open before noon. It was Monday so that was a bit odd to us.

We discovered a little train which we rode along the beach and into town, then retraced back the other way so the entire train ride took about an hour. We don't think it was worth the $14.00 each we spent but it did give us a good overview of the island and it got us out of the heat; even though it was completely open on the sides, it offered a nice breeze from the sides and shade from the top.

As the train was moving along the route a passing hitchhiker on a skateboard grabbed onto the bars on the back of the train and rode around for a while. I have a feeling the skateboarders are used to hitching rides on the tourist trains!
