What a great story!!! LOVE that aspect of having our own family to start traditions with too! LOVE how you stitched that title and love the little bits around the photos. Looks like a fun good dinner! I've never had fried green tomatoes, but the chili dogs sounds fab!
Wow, this is amazing. I love the documenting of your own new ways to celebrate the holidays. Your design is fabulous. I always love to study your layouts. You have such a beautiful style.
Gorgeous layout! I love the non-traditional Christmas foods w/ the traditional Christmas photos! I love chili cheese dogs and would love to have that for Christmas dinner! BTW - good for you for starting new traditions... I know it's hard for the older generation of family who has already established THEIR traditions, but it's your family and you need to do what you need to do to create your own! We did that when my daughter was around 1 years old. We decided not to visit people on Christmas Day, that if they wanted to see us, they'd have to come to us. It took some getting used to for others, but we loved it and still do! Now, after almost 13 years of doing it, everyone else is comfortable w/ it too and enjoy the new tradition! Thanks for playing (June Food Challenge)!
So smart to develop your own traditions for the holidays! I found people always dropped in on Christmas eve - especially the kid's friends so I made a big spaghetti dinner on Christmas eve and whoever was around was invited. So easy to get last minute Christmas things done with the spaghetti sauce simmering. Then we had a nice Christmas breakfast but our Christmas morning breakfast varied from one year to the next depending on my mood and what new breakfast dish I wanted to try. Big crockpot of apple cider stayed warm all day so the house smelled like Christmas and we drank it all day. On Christmas night, I took the leftover spaghetti sauce and converted it to Lasagna for Christmas dinner. So easy. I never wanted to spend Christmas day in the kitchen and this made Christmas dinner prep no time at all. Just throw together salad and garlic bread. Did that nearly the entire time my kids were growing up! It strange how kids to remember these traditions like the ones you are starting. Love your idea of the big Christmas eve dinner with the fried foods you never normally make. That makes it a special treat! That apple pie looks amazing! WOW! Love the little vintage Santa and the sparkly title!
I really like that sparkly title and the stitched word! I really like your description as well - I need to follow your lead and come up with our own traditions. All of your Christmas embellishments are super cute and I like the tag.
Love that you are creating your own traditions! As soon as we had our first that is what we decided to do around the holidays too! I love the food photos and the gold lettering! Lovely lo!
DH's family always does this big Christmas morning breakfast and the snacked till the evening party at Mrs. Mel's. And my family always had just cinnamon rolls fro breakfast and then ate a huge Christmas dinner with family. This year we decided its time to start our own traditions. So we had quiche and cinnamon rolls...a not to both traditions. And DH made a gorgeous homemade apple pie to take over to the his parents house later that day. But the most exciting new tradtion was the Christmas eve dinner. It was sooo great and fun and different....I loved it. We ate fried green tomatoes, Chili Cheese dogs and green beans! It was real splurge for us since we NEVER fry food, so that's what made it special. I am excited to be developing these new traditions with my own family. Its exciting to know we are building memories DD will hopefully cherish forever.
