What a beautiful, shabby chic tote for your niece! Love that you re-purposed a painters cloth, very clever! You did a great job creating the trim, and it looks fab layered up with the pretty lace and rose trim! Your niece is going to love it! Makes me want to break out my sewing machine and get busy on new summer porch pillow cases! TFS!
I love this! I scored on antique/vintage scrap bundle of various lace/crochet strips at the antique store and have been wandering around town after town for inspiration. TY for the ideas!
I created this bag using a Home Depot (painters) canvas drop cloth! So much less expensive than buying canvas by-the-yard @ a fabric store. You can get several projects from one drop cloth :) And another plus; if you use the area near the edge, there is a strong hem, and the top of your bag looks nicely finished. The ribbons and laces are pre-made (Prima & Maya Road) except I did make the pleated strip under the rosette trim: J and the flower is a piece of doily and a home made lace flower center. The handles/straps are 'ripped' from the cloth, and then triple zig-zag sewed along the edges; to keep the edges from fraying. The bag is about 16"X18" with 2 pockets inside. This is for my niece~ THANK YOU for taking time to peek in today!! ~Karen
