This is amazing. You know that I now have that song running through my head! LOL! Beautiful photos and great explanations. This must have been a special trip.
Your pictures and your journaling tell us about that time in history. Many have had family members on one or the other of those beaches, mine was in Guam. Fortunately he came home or I would not be here. So many places that I would love to visit.
What an amazing part of history to be able reflect on and from the location. When we were in Guam, where so many died (5,000 on one beach area), I could almost fee the ghosts of these past people and you probably had that a feeling similar to that here too. Such an important day in securing the freedom of our country. Great title - this was a once in a lifetime experience to be here. Places that are so significant just leave me in awe.
We traveled further along the coast to Point du Hoc. This stop was high on DH's list, and mine too. The Longest Day (movie) depicts the 2nd Rangers taking The Point. This spot was is the highest point along the Utah and Omaha Beaches. The area has been left largely untouched.
