This is absolutely stunning and I love the photo. Having been to Thailand many times, this one touched my heart. Elephants are gentle creatures - I just posted one yesterday of one kissing my husband! My husband had a friend in Thailand for about 35 years and his family owned an elephant said to be the oldest in Thailand.
Oh, this makes me sad. I love the information you shared with us. The photo is very sweet and I love the texture on your layout. Your flowers are gorgeous. I love the burlap behind them and the little metal circle hanging at the bottom. Beautiful page.
What a heartbreaking story but I thank you for the information. Super cool lo! Love that pic and the surrounding circle that it's tucked in. I also like the little hanging charm.
Wow, I'm really impressed with your scraplift of one of my layouts! It looks beautiful! I absolutely LOVE elephants, and I'm so glad you also chose to do an elephant page, yours being Asian, mine being African Elephant. That BoBunny paper works perfectly with those yellow flowers, love the softness you created on this page!
Beautiful page from the photo and story to the colors and embellishments! A wonderful tribute to these amazing animals. It is very sad that they have such difficult lives now.
The photo is stunning. Learning about another far away land teaches one a lot of the good and the sad parts. Everyone loves elephants, but to bad they are hunted and left in shame.
Another page for my d/dil's album that includes a wonderful photo of Thailand from Pinterest. I wanted to include pages showing her homeland mingled with her precious family photos, and in the process have learned much about the country and people of Thailand. I wanted elephants, so collected palace and other fancy elephants, but this photo really touched me.
Paraphrased from Pinterest: The elephant is the symbol of Thailand, but today's Asian elephant is generally unemployed, and many are homeless, wandering the roads and streets of Bangkok and other cities looking for food. Until logging was banned in 1989, elephants were laborers working in the jungles. Now, tame elephants wander the streets of cities begging for food. Elephants have been big business for the country, but are struggling to survive now, due to restrictive laws banning them from roadways and city streets. If a mahout isn't lucky enough to find a spot in one of the Tourism Authority camps, he and his elephant are relegated to wandering the streets with sacks of sugarcane for tourists to feed the elephant, or just plain begging in order to stay alive.
