This is one of a very few LOs I’ve done the actually turned out almost completely the way I envisioned it. It has no ‘bling’ except for the colored papers which were chosen for me since they were the Gathering’s official colors and the fleur-de-lis that I coped from the LCMSYGNO website.

The journaling says:
The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod held its triennial Youth Gathering 2016 in New Orleans. More than 30,000 youth and chaperons gathered from all over the US and several countries for worship, Bible study, service and fellowship from July 16 to July 20. Each evening attendees gathered at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, but during the days there were smaller group sessions including morning bible studies and afternoon interest centers. There were several choices, a few are listed below:
• The ABC’s of Defending the Faith
• Dignity Revolution: Standing Up for the Value of Every Person without Compromising Your Faith
• Go ahead and LAUGH! You look better with a smile.
• I Am Whole: How to Keep It Together When Everything Falls Apart
• Friendship: Going Beyond Followers and Friend Requests
• Social Media: It’s Your Channel. What will you say?

Our granddaughters specially enjoyed Shanna Decker who was the speaker at the ‘I Am Whole’ interest center. Shanna was told she had cancer at the age of 7. After losing her most of her left leg during her battle with the disease she knew she wanted to help others and has been doing so ever since.

In between The Gathering Events, our youth group got in some New Orleans sightseeing. Among other things, they enjoyed the Aquariums of Americas, something my husband and I enjoyed when we were in NO many years ago.

All who attend the gathering come home with a stronger faith, the awareness of being part of a large family of believers and memories that will last a lifetime. What a blessing our DGDs had during their time at the LCMSYGNO.
