A few years ago, I decided to make an insert for my daughters school 3-Ring Binder, hoping it would encourage her since she looks at it all day, every day, all year. I then made a coordinating page, while I had all of the papers and embellies out, to go with it, so that when I make her School Scrapbook (one day hopefully!), this can “introduce” each grade. The unexpected perk? When she got to class on the first day of school, classmates asked her “Hey! Where did you get that?!? I want to get one!” to which she replied, “Oh, you can't buy this – my Mama made this for me.” Priceless.
As a side note, whenever I make a layout and I'm not adding the pics yet, I put the 2-page layout in a page protector (with backs facing each other so I can easily see both sides), with some scraps of papers (and maybe embellies) I was using, and I put them in between the 2 pages, so that when I later go to scrap the photos to finish the layouts, I have matting and punch papers to use. If I use ink, I add a note with “T.H. Wilted Violet”.
Also, a lot of these pps were from the My Minds Eye Lost and Found collection, with some glittered accents, but a lot was from my own stash. TFL!
