When we reached the House of the Seven Gables, I couldn't wait to go inside! This was very high on things to see today in Salem because it is one of the places I remembered visiting in 1970 with Bill, Karl and Barbara.
I wanted to see if the house was the same as I remembered it. For the most part, it was. I remembered the outside of the house and the color of it exactly. However, I thought it was bigger and I also thought there were more grounds around it. I loved seeing it again!
When we were in Salem before, all those years ago, Bill bought me a copy of the House of the Seven Gables from the gift shop in the house. That is the one thing I kept from our earlier trip to Boston. That old book has had a place on the bookshelf of every home I've lived in for forty-four years! Right now it is on the bookshelf in our house in Ocala.
