Siting across from the Dunker Church is a large monument sitting just on the top of a small rise of land. It is the New York State Monument. This of all the monuments at Antietam is probably my favorite. One of my favorite photos is included in this layout. One-fourth of the Union army at Antietam was from New York. The state of New York suffered 3,765 casualties during the battle.
