I really love that you and your friends exchanged pictures. It is so interesting to see different perspectives on the same subjects - your albums have such wonderful documentation of your travels!
Pictures that Jack and Sandy took. If you will notice, men, woman and children seem to have faces that look kind of yellow.
There is a tree local to this area. The cute it in "slices" and people all have a flat slice - from large branches or small trunks, I not sure which, just know they have a flat piece with bark all the way around the edge.
They get it a bit wet on top and then work it in with their fingers to make a whitish paste and then smear it all over their faces.
They believe it protects the skin so men, women and children do this. It dries very yellow.
Its really obvious on the face of the child getting the haircut.
Our tour guide Yen-Yen told us about it on the first day. She said she always likes to use it to protect her skin but didn't want to scare us so she didn't wear it, but would we mind if she wore it on the second day so even Yen-Yen was "yellow" the second day.
