I am not someone who likes to drink, smoke or go to wild parties and bars but I recently went to a party hosted by our friends, the Loxdales. Daddy was tired from a long day at work so he stayed home. Larissa and I headed over to the party around 8:30pm. All our best friends were there and the party was just getting underway. There was a trampoline for the children, a bonfire had been started and everyone was mingling and gabbing away. Pastor Bob had everyone gather for a short sundown service and then the fun began. Pastor Bob said we were in for some old fashioned fun. We didn't really know what to expect. First he had us stand in a circle and we played a running, tag-type gamed called Too Deep. I had so much fun and I laughed so hard that my stomach hurt. Next we played a game in which we all stood in a huge circle holding hands. Two people were ‘it' and they had to tag two people holding hands. While still holding hands, the couples would run in opposite directions to return to the hole they had made in the circle. The first couple back won and the losing couple would have a turn to choose a couple to run against. I think my favourite moment was watching Shirley Loxdale and my Dad running...not only running but winning! I laughed and laughed and laughed and laughed. It was so wonderful to see people from age 7 right up to their 70's playing games, running, laughing and cheering each other on. After several games, all of which involved running (oh my!) we munched on bonfire cooked hotdogs, smores and chips. Larissa loved the bonfire and was convinced it was a volcano. Before we realized it, it was 11pm and time to head home. Now that was my kind of party! July 2008
