Description: This is a photo (I scanned and cleaned it up a bit) of my paternal grandparents. I used bling from a new company called ZVA Creative. The paper is K&Co Blue Awning, swirls are Grungeboard (Tim Holtz). I also used a Hambly overlay behind the photo and a couple of swirl stamps. Journaling is tucked behind the photo at the top and reads:

When I see older photos like this one of my paternal grandparents, I wonder what their lives were like. What were their hopes and their dreams? Both of my paternal grandparents died before I was born, so I never got to know them. I only know the stories that I’ve been told. They had 7 children, and my daddy was the fifth child. When Daddy was a young boy, his father left and never returned to the family. My grandmother, Effie, and her mother raised the family. Daddy was about 15 years old when his mama died. I was told that my grandmother took in sewing to help support the family. Daddy used to tell me about looking for bottles to take back to the store so that he could get a penny or two for the deposit on the bottle. I don’t think that any of my daddy’s siblings kept up with my grandfather after he left, but I remember my daddy telling me that when his father was dying, he asked his children to come visit him and Daddy was the only one who went to see him. I don’t know where he’s buried or when he died. It must have hurt when my grandfather left his family, but that’s something Daddy never talked about. I do know that Daddy was always there for me and I always knew that I could count on him for support. He didn’t have the love and support of his father growing up, but he made sure we always did.

Thanks so much for stopping by! :D
