This is Jonah. When I lived in Oregon, he was one of my favorite "clients" to dog sit. He was a German Shepherd mix and was totally enamored of me! The feeling was completely mutual. I've described him here as sweet, smart, obedient, a tennis ball freak, affectionate, and a water dog. One description that I should add is lonely. His owners didn't allow him inside and they both worked full-time. When they were home, they rarely gave him any attention. He never gave up trying though!
I did a lot of training with him (he didn't even know how to walk on a leash) and he was very intelligent. He did not require treat training...he never took his eyes off me while I gave him commands. The only reward he needed was love and attention. He could carry three tennis balls in his mouth and could drop one at a time!
Jonah adored Lucky also and they played together and wrestled until they both collapsed in exhaustion. Why didn't I take pictures of them together?? My bad.
When the "dad" had a mild heart attack, they decided to give Jonah away. I asked if I could find him a home and they allowed me to do that. I found the perfect family for him! A sweet family in my church agreed to meet Jonah and there was an instant bond. They already had two dogs and three active kids. It was a perfect fit! Jonah lived out the rest of his life being lavished with love and good things. Their one challenge was keeping him off the field during the kids' soccer games! He died a happy boy one year ago.
