Description: This is my youngest sister Betty (kzookeeper) when she was about 2 1/2 or 3 years old (about 1961). I used Making Memories - Sabrina collection for the layout. I made the scalloped edge on the large circle by punching a 1 1/4" circle then punching over that with a 1 1/2" circle - making a very thin ring. The black scallop across the bottom is the black circles from the middle of the punches. I used some pink 3D paint on the white scallop and some pink ink on the edges. The black flourishes are actually 3D paint. I drew the flourishes that were the shape I needed (on white cardstock) then placed a transparency over the top of my flourish and added the black paint. Super easy! The butterfly is stamped in pink and I added stickles for a little sparkle. The butterfly "trail" is black bling. Journaling is tucked behind the photo and reads:
Betty was born just two weeks before I turned eight years old. As strange as it may seem, I was not even aware that we were going to have a new baby in the house. In 1958, pregnancy wasn’t discussed. I remember getting up on the morning of December 16, and my Daddy came in and told us that we had a new baby sister. I was so excited! I couldn’t wait to go to school and tell everyone about my new baby sister. (Little did I know…the teachers all knew that my Mama was expecting a baby!) I couldn’t wait for Mama and Daddy to bring her home. I was a little “mama” to Betty most of the time. I fed her, changed her, played with her, and carried her on my hip all over the house. One summer I went to visit my aunt and uncle in Atlanta, and when the family came to get me two weeks later, Betty was the first one that I grabbed up and hugged. I think I missed her more than I missed any of the rest of my family! She was my shadow sometimes growing up, but I don’t think I ever really minded. Now that we are grown, we’re still very close and talk to each other every week. We both have a love of all things arts and crafts (both of us knit, crochet, sew, tat, can and freeze veggies, and cook……..but our favorite hobby is scrapbooking!).
